13.1 in 2 hours 7 minutes!

Well today was the day! I never thought I would be a runner- ever. I've been running the Peachtree Road Race for 4 years now and always felt that 6.7 miles was all the running I ever wanted to do... but then when Trey was born and Jazzercise (my favorite workout for 4 years before Trey) was no longer an option I had to find something new. So I got a running stroller and "I RAN" (Forest Gump voice). I started out walking and running a 3 mile path at Chastain Park- eventually I was able to run the entire 3 miles with no problem. I was doing this 6 days a week. Like the Post Man - in the rain (the stroller has a protective cover for Trey when it rains so he stays dry), in the cold (Trey wore a snow suit in addition to the cover to keep the wind off him), and heat (it is Atlanta afterall). I guess you could say I became addicted to it. Then I would run 6 miles when the moment would strike me. Then one day I decided I would run 9 miles- just because. (Forest Gump keeps coming to my mind!)

So Friday we all went to the GA Dome to pick up my race packet. I got my number (20357), my shirt, and my chip (this tracks me throughout the race and gives my time and pace). There was also an expo with more awesome stuff for running than you could imagine. But I guess runners are spenders because most of the stuff was really over priced! But it was fun anyhow.

Saturday I had to go buy a new shirt to run in because the forcast was calling for rain and I didn't want to be wearing a cotton shirt for a 13 mile run in the rain... I took Kevin and Chip's advice and broke down and bought an underarmour- wow! Nice!!

So anyhow I woke up at 5:30am and got dressed, ate, and left. It wasn't raining but it was SO COLD! 43 degrees by the time I finished and I was wearing shorts. In fact I am still cold! The race was great- basically a "tour" of all the neighborhoods in the city. Well I finished the race in 2 hours and 7 minutes!! I started in 6000th something place and finished in 2000th something. I ran the entire time and certainly the last mile was the longest of my life. All I know is I can't wait to do it again!!

Tornado in the city

I guess its been about 2 weeks since a tornado touched down in Atlanta. Chip was at work and my Dad called to tell me that the roof of Phillips Arena had been damaged. So I turned on the news and turned off the computer... the wind and rain outside were terrible. I kept thinking "should I grab Trey and take cover"... But the weather man didn't seem to think so, so I stayed on the sofa watching the weather. The rain stopped and Chip came home. We talked and caught up on our day and then later turned on the news- WOW! A tornado had touched down in the city! The live pictures of the destruction were amazing. Today was the first time I had ventured downtown (even though it is only about 4 miles away) and here are a few pictures I took....
The GA World Congress Center - all boarded up.

The Peachtree Plaza hotel and the side of the CNN Center.

Wake up- its time!

It was just like that- Trey woke up on Tuesday morning and decided that he was not going to stay in one place any longer. He decided it was time to walk and crawl all at the same time. He crawls only to get to a wall or chair or anything that he can grab onto to help him stand up. After that he can work his way around the entire house. He holds onto the walls or the furniture and off he goes. He walks until he finds something that he can explore- which usually means pulling everything down or off whatever it is. So I have spent this week watching him like a hawk. Here are some pictures of what this week has looked like!

No no! That is the Kittys food:

Easter Sunday

This past Sunday was Easter and it was Trey's first! We were excited to take Trey to hunt Easter eggs and since he just started walking we thought he would enjoy it... well at least it would make for a good picture opp anyway! So after Church Trey went with the toddlers and found some eggs... here are a few pictures:

He was more interested in the bark on the ground... poor ole' city boy!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

I am new at this

So I am not much of a "writer" but my friend Karen has a blog and I thought it was a great way to share with our friends and family far away what is happening here in the ATL with the Chamberlins! So welcome and I hope you enjoy reading this! Now wish me luck as I try to figure out how to post pictures! (as you can see the picture posted above and not below the writing... I am working out the kinks!)
